you can try to make deals with med schools if you havent taken nmat yet. but for sure u have to take it by march-april before classes starts.
i got accepted in FEU and MCU without any nmat.
you can also try cebu doctors or southwestern university.

im pretty sure that Cebu Doctors Univ and Southwestern Univ both in Cebu REQUIRE the NMAT. i did however talk to the Registrar at SWU and she told me that although it's required by law, SWU does NOT weight heavily on your NMAT scores...they are primarily more concerned with your prev college grades.

Any one out there tell me , how to manage an MD admission in phillipine medical schools without NMAT. How do you overcome this requirement of NMAT by CHED , phillipines.
Please reply ASAP (electronicpoet@rediffmail.com)

There is no other way around it. They don't care about your score as long as you take it (Unless you are going to competitive schools). They can accept you while waiting for the results.

Hi, I'm a nursing student in manila and i'm *planning* on applying for NMAT exam this december, just want to ask what's the requirement for applying for the exam so that I can prepare the things necessary.
I also want to ask if, for example, I was not able to enroll at a med school next year, but i have already taken my NMAT exam, would it be possible for me to use my test score in the next sem or year that I want to enroll?
Do I still need a review for the exam? or can I take the exam without having a review but still get a good grade?:|

I think there is a deadline for applications for the December exam (this month I think). Try to contact CEM for the requirements and the deadline. They give it twice a year.
You can use the old scores from NMAT at any time if you can't get into med school right away. Most schools don't look at the NMAT (some of them don't even have a cutoff score) but if you want to prepare, there's a lot of reviewers available in the Philippines. Some say these reviewers are not that helpful in content but at least you know the style of questions and subjects to concentrate.

I think the NMAT is required to be taken by all Philippine Medical schools. The question is how much weight they put on the scores, if any

Some schools accept MCAT instead for foreign studentsF(if you have taken itT).
Fatima would still consider your aplication for June and you can take the test later in Dec.
Hope this helps!

Hi guys, I need help....!
I'm thinking to apply to UERM, so does anyone know the e-mail address for admission office of this school?
Do you know when is the application deadline for 2006 intake?
How hard is it to get in? NMAT cut-off score?
Any information about this school would be greatly appreciated.
I've gone to their website but it's not updated (1999)...I've sent e-mail to them two weeks ago to get application packages, but no reply ever since.
I also need some info about FEU and their e-mail.
Thank you.

I don't think it's difficult to get in to these 2 schools (UERM and FEU). You just have to make their NMAT cutoffs (55 for UERM and around 40 for FEU). I even read that some people make it even with lower scores (special cases). The problem is that some schools (FEU used to be notorious for this) do some "weeding out", so each year only a certain number of students make it.

Hello.. I am applying for June '07 semester and I plan on taking the latest '06 NMAT. I wrote CEM and they told me that the test will take place Oct. 14 '06 (Chicago) and I believe Oct. 21 (LA). Just wondering if anyone can give me advice on how to best prepare for the NMAT? what are the science topics tested (heard its chem, bio, physics, but is bchm in it and wuts sociology)? does anyone recommend ne NMAT review books or are MCAT book sufficient?
Another thing, I have read posts whereby applicants have gained admission from schools in PI before NMAT scores came in? I do have a solid GPA and lots of clinical/volunteer/research experience (Im fil-am btw).. is that truly a possibility?
Finally... does anybody have any working email address to UST admissions. The ones on their website failed.
Apologize for the long post but any help or advice is appreciated... salamat

Hi,
I'm just wondering what is covered in the NMAT. Is it like the MCAT? How could I get in touch of someone so that I could take the NMAT here in the US. Do you know any good reviewers? Also, does anyone know the reputation of Ateneo de Manila School of Medicine. I know it just opened this 2007...any idea on how many students are enrolled? Salamat! =)

It would be better is you applied to a school that is at least 10 years old, because new medical schools take time to be accredited by California and other entities.

Maybe a better way to say it is..... to apply to "proven" schools. Most schools in the Philippines are accredited in the US. "Proven" does not necessarily mean "well known".... There are many excellent Filipino physicians who finished in schools other than the "well known" schools.
Furthermore, there are ways to check the accreditation of schools if necessary.

As of this moment the newest med school that is recognized in California for licensure is St. Luke's. The other new schools (San Beda, Silliman, Ateneo) needs to be grandfathered once an applicant graduates from these schools. Being "grandfathered" entails a lot of paperwork and delay in approval.
