Probably the best person to ask about that is Janet in financial aid. I think the answer right now it that TERI is it unitl further notice.
Did everybody else get the letter from financial aid outlining the situation?

As I said on another thread here somewhere, you apply for the $25,000 every two semesters, not every year. TERI calls two semesters "a year" at Saba. It should be enough for a single student, or a student and spouse. A family on the other hand.....

I talk to the financial aid office (J****) and she told me there will be tuiton hike of 1K next school year..And, when I asked her how much the tuition & living expenses total would be ?? she gave a figure around 13-14K per semester !! And, she told me Teri will not be enough/ it will be tight ...I need to know what's the total (tuition & liveing) expenses for average student..?

It cost me about 80+ thousand for the 5 semesters on Saba, but I was not scrownging, and I ate out very very often. (the schooling alone was 7000x5=35000)

Val
uh, is that 80k for only the time you spent on the island and not including the cost of the two clinical years?

any rough idea what kind of TOTAL med school debt one could expect from saba.
i've seen that Ross is estimated at around 190,000
for some reason, i was under the impression that saba was considerably cheaper than the "big 3" because they didn't offer staffords :?

A lot depends on your lifestyle. I think Val will be the first to tell you he didn't live frugally.

Nope... I didn't lol... I think you can get in and out for around 60K for your time on the island if you don't splurge and you cook at home, and know where to order your food from (St. Martin... hint hint... wink wink... etc.... cause you certainly ain't gonna be saving money buying 4 pieces of chicken for 14 gildars OR 9 dollars...). So if you factor in clinicals which cost 35K for tuition alone, and then about 30K to live (conservatively and even less if you live in a city where we have clinicals cause that means you don't need to pay rent!) then I think you could theoretically get out of SABA with an MD degree for about $125K. Anyone else agree with my bad math? Anyone tried to live conservatively on SABA?

Hi all
Just one more Q ? do most students pay upfront on the first semester tuition & dorm fees ?? and, if it's yes, is't required to do that ..even if students are getting loan ??

Are there clinicals where you can live free? That would be really cool! Which ones are they?

I am pretty sure that you have to pay 1st semester up front as a deposit to show that you will be arriving on Saba and that you won't skip out and go to some other medical school. As for the dorms, when I was in the dorms (16-20 months ago) Kenny (the owner of the dorms) didn't have us pay for our 4 months there (1600 dollars) until I think the end of the 1st month that we were there. I am not sure how he is now with payment? But I know you CAN pay him via credit card! Which is always nice and convenient.
As for free places to stay during clinicals. From what I understand if you do your psych rotation in North Carolina (Cherry Hill to be exact) then you don't have to pay to live on site there. What I meant though with my last post was that if you are originally from Kansas City for example and you OWN a house there or your parents do, then since we have Kansas City rotations, you can actually live there for free (technically of course cause you still have to pay land tax, and mortgage payments etc. if you own it). But you know what I mean! It would make it convenient and cheaper for you!

so do alot of students set up their own clinical rotations? i think i'd prefer just to go where saba is well established already. then again, i may feel totally different once i get to that point. i dunno :?
