I hope you can help. I bothered Pat Parks enough. As you know, DOTE English program is not formally approved on the CA list. Does that mean I cannot still apply through the Longer application process for the CA letter?I can find nothing that says I can't apply. It says wait 60 days for processing. I also heard the letter was $700. I thought the CA list, just made it faster for students or docs to apply. According to Pat Parks, our application is in the middle of a very large stack..whatever that means. But anyway, you seem to be in the know on this. set me straight. What do you think? I cannot apply as an individual? Thanks

The sad truth of the matter is that if the school/program is not approved, one cannot get a 'California letter'; thereby one cannot apply to residency programs in California, nor can one get licensed. (Info on the letter http://www.medbd.ca.gov/appstatusltr.pdf )
You can, of course, apply.
However, unless the Medical Board overlooks the school/program in the application (doubtful, especially as you are requesting a letter) they'll simply return your application and fees with a nice letter that says that per California law they cannot evaluate your application as you are from an unapproved school.
Re: fees. See http://www.medbd.ca.gov/feeschedule.pdf
Sorry to break the bad news to you.

This is not bad news per se, because I will stay in the south (where I'm from) But I NEVER say NEVER! And who knows someday, maybe I want to move to San Diego. If you look at the Texas list..NO Hungarian school is on it, but they have a SECOND list of school graduates that Texas licenses have been issued and DOTE is on that list. So I thought CA might also do the same. But no big deal. Hopefully by then, they will have all this worked out. Thanks. I didn't have to bother Pat Parks again. BUEK!
