I was just wondering if anyone can think of any additional computer essentials that I may need. For example, connection cables and etc.
I currently have:
Laptop w/ Office
External Speakers
Jump Drive
Surge Protector
Ext. Mouse
Printer
Printer Cable
Thanks for the help,
JS

A small rubber made type container with silica dessicant is good for keeping humidity from ruining you laptop. Some people leave their laptop running while at home to keep the insides from building up condensation.
Also, some people get Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS) to protect against brownouts and surges.

Paper!
Also, if you don't want to bring the silica, then you can instead rent a place with an airconditioner and set it to dehumidify mode which is what I did. This becomes somewhat costly, and that's why its better to goto OMNI airconditioning in St. Martin and buy a new indoor/outdoor unit for around 450 dollars which is very energy efficient (I ran mine - 12000BTU for about 30 dollars a month). I thought the airco was worth it cause I was never sweating, my clothes and/or leather never moulded/mildewed, and my computer made it!!!

Well thats all good....but if you`re a complete technofiend like me you`ll also need:-
an external hard drive (for extra storage)
PDA/comparable palm pilot
digital camera/video camera or if you can find one a D-snap
extra or larger SD/Flash card
MD/MP3 player
USB hub (its all gotta plug in somewhere right?)
Network cable (Cat 5)
Router or a hub
screwdriver set (in case you need to take apart your computer)

or if you're all-in-one freak, combine the camera PDA with mp3 features(and a 1 gig memory card) and add in wi-fi and a bunch of internet apps. Buy a pair of Grado SR-80 headphones and life is good on the rock(or at least on my rock).

You will never need your PDA on SABA... unless its to listen to some music cause you are mind numbed during the 6-8 hours of lecture...

But how else am I going to schedule "hot date 2-night", "laundry day", and "black monday" so I don't forget with no PDA? Use paper??!?

LOL... well, considering you only have a black monday every third week which I think you will find is easy to remember because everyone in your class will be freaking out about it all the time and thus reminding you, so I don't think you will need the PDA for that. Also, its the only school related important date you will need since you don't get assignments or homework to do, so once again, no real need for a PDA there. I used to use my PDA in university all the time, but when I got to SABA, it stayed in the craddle for 20 months... and Hot-date-2nite is one of those things you NEVER forget (unless its Not-so-Hot-Date-2-nite and then you may wanna forget it)!!! Laundry on the other hand gets lonely without its attention and it has its own way of telling you it's jealous and that you haven't given it enough love or attention - the smell (especially on humid SABA).
Have fun on the rock guys & a happy New Year!
