Hey Everyone. I am a first time poster, long time reader of this forum. I just got an acceptance letter from AUC for the May 05' semester. First, I want to just say thank you to all the posters (especially those current and former AUC students) of this forum for their insight on AUC and the Caribbean schools in general. You guys and girls have really assisted me in deciding where to go, so thanks so much for helping us newbies out. :D

I do have a question though (and it may have been asked in a previous thread so here it goes), how many hours are you in classes on a typical day at AUC?

Also, anyone else joining me in the May 05 entereing class?

Thanks for reading. I wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season.

-Dan

Congrats on your acceptance.

Since your class size will more than likely be very small, you will probably have Anatomy lab every single day (unlike this Fall's large class, with lab every other day). Therefore expect to be in lecture from 8am to ~noon with small breaks between classes, followed by a lunch break (~1 hr), and then lab from 1pm - 3:30pm (some days you'll get out early, some much later).

But things may be different for May...

Welcome to AUC! and I can assure you that you will enjoy here. Saint maarten is unique with 50 nationales of nearly 50,000 population of bursting diversity maybe only secondary to NY if you know what I meant. Dutch, indian, chinese, Afirican decents, and French as well as Italian plus Americans from all over the states. This is true melting pot sort with touch of mini las vegas along with serenity of caribbean Island. If Las Vegas is Alison's wonder world in the middle of desert Nevada, this is it, Saint maarten, the wonder island in the caribbean.

Academically, it is not easy yet doable. no pain no gain.

again, congraturation on your acceptance

Hi Dannymartini! I will be starting AUC in the fall. I was wondering if you were ever interested in getting rid of your 1st semester books - maybe you could contact me. Also, useful information/advice from your 1st semester is also welcomed.

Congrats - and good luck!!

Thanks, B.

ajs129: I PM'd ya, good to see another May 05' classmate. Our numbers are growing!

kennethhur: Thanks for the overview on St. Maarten and the warm welcome! Speaking of Vegas though, how are the casinos down there in St. Maarten?

docbee: I probably won't be selling my 1st semester books because I sometimes like to keep books for reference. However, if I do decide to that I want to sell them, I'll give you first crack at them. Keep in touch

Sakuger: I am trying to enjoy the next 3 months as much as possible. However, there is something about spending so much money on "stuff" to bring down to St. Maarten that is depressing the hell outta me. However, Amazon.com loves me at this point!

And again, TopGunner, stateofequilibrium, anencephalic, levator, and microphage.....thanks for your insight on AUC and the welcome!

Hey *****. I went to St. Maarten about a month ago -- right before tourist time I suppose (my 1st 2 days, there was no one around but islanders, and then BAM like 7 cruise ships a day) -- anyhow I went to one of the casinos on Front street (this is the middle of the island, not even by fashion district or anything) -- the casino was real nice, but empty, I had gone on my 2nd day, before anyone had gotten there. I suppose that if tourists a lot of people were there, a good time would have been had by all -- the place was well staffed --

Also, I went at like 11 in the morning -- so maybe the nightlife is different, and I don't think the islander natives are allowed to gamble on islands like that......

Long memo to say I liked it ....
