Are exams at AUC multiple choice, essay, short answer or a combination of all of these?

Are classroom lectures well structured with notes presented in a clear and concise manner or is it up to you to entirely teach yourself?

Do you feel that the depth of the material presented is adequate perparation for the USMLE 1 or do you have to rely on a lot of outside preparation using different sources?

professor try to question in usmle stlye and format....so the test are multiple choice

about the lectures it depends.....i personally always go to lectures and i find sort of useful....my friend doesnt care for lectures and wouldnt mind not attending.....

there are some professor that their lectures are important....for physo and genetics....but classes like anatomy and biochem i think they are not the best help.....

as the semster went by i followed in my board review series for anatomy and biochem and the materiall they covered followed along in the BRS.....same with the USLME step 1 review book....

Do USMLE 1 exams consist of long written passages followed by multiple choice questions as in the MCAT or are the questions shorter in length?

My reading rate kills me on standardized tests.

i believe they are short paragraph questions....they give you a little background info (which you probably dont need to answer the question)...the importan info and than the question......

i believe each question is a stand alone question

Entire exams for all the lectures corses at AUC are multiple choice questions except some laboratory exams for Anatomy and microbiology, which are not multiple choice but fill in blank. The professors provides the students with scantrons and the exam booklet ,which has a cover page of the AUC honor code and signature entry. Even history of medicine and medical Ethics are multiple choice format. Most of the exams are approximately 45-60 questions with strict time limit of a range of 50 minutes to 90 minutes. One exeption is pharmacology, which has 25-50 multiple choices depends on quize or final and midterm.

Some questions are clinical type with a short case paragraphs and a few subsequent relevant multiple choice questions as a one block so on. As far as the reading skills My reading skills were not that great on MCAT but I have not had any problem with finishing on time. The paragraphs are not that complex or difficult.

Hope this helps

have good holidays and welcome to AUC..

The lectures provide a foundation- with some specifics. You will have to do work on your own and teach yourself some things. The professors that I have had make themselves available outside of class for questions. The lectures can be very helpful- I feel AUC has some talented instructors.
