today i got a letter from the school that my application for admission got rejected after waiting for 6 weeks .there was no reason why they have decided not to accept me ,i have contacted the admission office and they did not wanna tell me why they denied my application i dont think its fair to keep people on hold for 6 weeks and then dont even tell them why you deny them i would like to know if someone had the same problem and i would like if any of the school offecial read this message(as i am sure there is too meny of them here promoting for the school) get back to me with the reason why you denied my application i think i have the right to know.

I think you do have the right to know. It's not fair.

I know it sucks, but maybe you should change the way you are asking them, be more politcally correct. (I'm assuming you already called them on the phone?)
Instead of saying "why did you reject me after waiting six weeks", perhaps they want to hear "what can I do to improve my chances of future acceptance?" on the phone. Maybe they'll answer if it's put that way? I don't think anybody here is going to be able to give you the answer.

You may not want to have anything to do with AUC anymore, that would be understandable, but it might help you figure out what specifically can be done to increase your chances elsewhere.
Good luck to you!

I agree with wolfie,

Do some introspection. Did you meet the minimum requirements for admissions? If not, there's the answer you are searching for. If yes, then you may want to know that medical school applications are up and slots are more competitive for established caribbean schools (more applications = more competition).

Ask MEIO if they will discuss your application with you and determine what areas are deficient. Work on those areas and try again, perhaps for a semester which isn't as crowded (ie, January or May versus September). If you haven't already done so, you may want to consider other carib schools as well.

You might want to try spell check as well.

Did you just apply at AUC or did you apply at others. I know schools like St Georges, AUC and Ross are becoming quite competitive. You can still apply to a few others in time fior january if you act fast and mmet the requirements)

Hello Welly,

I just wanted to wish you the best and tell you not to take it too hard. AUC is not the only good foreign medical school. There are several others with excellent opportunities. Getting rejected from AUC should not stop you from being a doctor. When it comes to the Caribbean, I think that every person should decide for themselves if they want to be a doctor. One that is done -- as long as you have your prereq's done -- getting into a school is the easier part.

Good luck to you. Keep your head up and take a look at some of the other schools.

Just remember to avoid schools with twinning programs.

I reviewed your scores which are quite low and hurt your ability to be accepted. I also saw that you did not take the MCAT which would prevent your acceptance.

I have a 3.96 GPA with my lowest grade consisting of a B+ in Organic Chemistry I. Unfortunately, I also have ADD and a visual problem that affects my tracking ability and reading speed. This impacts me greatly on the MCAT.

I'm usually no. 1 or 2 in my classes. My competition scored 27s on the MCAT while I was scoring an 18R primarily because of the VR Section and that I was running out of time.

I can only hope that MCAT performance is not indicative of USMLE 1 performance or else I'm hosed.

Wonderful. It has nothing to do with your MCAT...great. Why don't you call the good people at MEIO to find out why you weren't accepted in the first place and let us know so we don't have to speculate any further. While you're at it, TURN YOUR CAPS LOCK OFF!!!
