Hi, this question is for nelic.
I was looking into applying at the First Faculty, but given the maltreatment of gypsies there and me being a south asian, hence looking like a gypsie, makes me a little worried. I also read on the some website about alleged recist attacks on minorities by skin heads.
I do not mean to create bad publicity, and in all sincerity believe the 1st faculty is one of the best options for people like me, but what do you think about the situation of minorities in Prague and at the 1st faculty.

there is some racism toward gypsies....but, that being said, if you dress like an american and speak english, there is VERY little chance you will be mistaken for a gypsy.
i have never had any personal experience with racism since i have been in prague. never heard of any from my friends. i know it exists, as it does everywhere...but, i think you will have no more problems than if you were in the states.
there may be folks with more info than me, so see what other responses you get on here.

make sure and read this, it has been enlightening for some people:

There are many good schools who will take you, even at the undergrad level. Check out ireland first and foremost! The Atlantic bridge program and others. Also, Australian schools are good.
If you want to go caribb, SGU has an undergrad program.

actually, i have to agree with bts...in general, ireland and australia would be better choices. awesome schools, taught in english. the only problems are cost and it is far more difficult to get in.
for the carib, i would say sgu, ross, saba and auc are the good choices. sgu is head and shoulders above the rest, but pricey....however, there are other differences that come into play when comparing carib and euro education...if your goal is simply usmle prep and get home as fast as possible, those four carib schools will do a great job. if you want to do a bit more self-prep for residency and usmle, take a bit longer, and have an adventure, europe can be fun.

i agree that smu is standing out as a school that is doing the right things, and getting better. but, i would also still not attend, at least until the CA approval goes through.

Ok, I hear you.
We got NY approval, and I am hoping California will find our campus and Student residences good enough for accreditation.
If the Hurricane had not postponed our plans, we should have known by now.
Talk to you soon after their decision
