Are you in the states yet? If you are then you have much better chance to get into a master program. A friend of mine she came here with her husband who was on an H1B visa to work in the IT field. She had the same degree as you are and she applied to the master program at a local university. She got in quite easily. They paid her about $10/hour to work in the microbiology lab while taking her master courses. She worked and studied for the USMLE. She passed and she's doing her residency at Mt. Sinai in NY now.
I think PhD is a bit competitive to get in. You can always get your feet wet by entering the master program and once you know the professors it is quite easy to enter the PhD program. PhD in physiology/pharmacology job options include teaching and doing research at the same time. Working for Eli Lily or other pharmaceutical company. I think your best bet is to work/study and try to get your ECFG certified. Then do residency in the USA.
I hope this helps
