Any advise from the current students? What should I bring? What should I not bring. What are the dorms like? They look nice from the catalogue but I did not see an inside shot. Could someone tell me what they look like on the inside and what they come with. Do I need to bring sheets, plates, coffee maker, toaster, ??????
What's the weather like? All replies wanted!

Most of the places are one bedroom apartments that are furnished with linens, towels, pots/pans, toaster, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, and television. The a/c units are located in the bedroom, so you may want to bring a portable fan for the living room. The rainy season begins in october and lasts through the beginning of january. The days are warm and the evenings are cooler due to the tradewinds. Definitely bring a rainjacket and a light jacket/sweatshirt.

Due an increasingly large number of students enrolling into Med I (the last two semester) ... i would advice you to fly in as early, as you can, if you wish to have a spot in the dorm. It is on a "first come first serve basis". NOT matching like you think. Bring lots of food -- because you know that there is/are no kitchens in the dorm -- only a microwave - a fridge (I believe). Sandals, t-shirt and shorts. Buy your books early and bring it along with you because it will save you $$ on shipping and handling. If you want yoru cell phone to work on this island, buy a SIM card or you can spend $150 USD on a phone. Internet is available in the dorm with a fee of 60 USD/semester. Expect the food to be expensive over here - because they're IMPORTS! -- beers are cheap here. If you're planning to bring FROZEN HOMEMADE FOOD from mom, bring it in a carry-on with you - in case your luggage does not come in. Also, leave some clothes in your carry-on just in case your luggage does not come in. There is a history of luggage NOT arriving with you when you land in NEVIS. That's pretty much all i could think of right now.

I really don't know where "Dr. D" got his/her information, but I've been in contact with a couple of students from MUABelize and this is the info they gave me:
1. In the September 2004 semester, there were exactly 4 first semester students. Maybe Dr. D. was counting the nevis semester when he/she reported a large enrolment.
2. There is no dorm. All of the first semester students (now second semester, I guess) have their own apartments. There are tons of apartments for rent so if you don't happen to get one in the "dorms", it's not like you're going to get thrown out of the school.
3. The stuff about the cell phones are corrrect.
4. Yes, internet service is pricey, but I'm surpirsed Dr. D forgot to mention THE SCHOOL HAS WIRELESS INTERNET AND ITS FREE
5. luggage gets lost anywhere. It's just the luck of the draw.
6. Bring some rain gear.
7. Starting May 2005 uniforms are mandatory (check the website), so, budget for an extra wardrobe whether you want it or not.
8. As for the catalog, dont believe everything you see. Some of those pictures are from the old campus and the nevis campus, and the pictures of the 'dorms' are actually of realy pricey apartments.
9. Supplies vary depending on the apartment. Some have stoves while others have hotplates. Some even give towels and sheets and free laundry services. The local stores carry sheets towels etc, but since its all imported, expect it to be expensive.
10. The power goes out sometimes. Bring a flashlight.
Hope this helps
