Does anyone have any recommendations for finding clerkships in California? I am studying at Semmelweis in Budapest and just found this website. My searching thus far has been frustrating, and it seems like people here know a lot more than I do! I would appreciate any help . . .

There a couple of different approaches:

1) Contact the California med schools and find out if you can do electives there. UCLA has offered electives to students from Hungary, however, you have to have the school offer reciprocity. Others are not so accomodating.

2) Find out which hospitals in California offer clerkships/electives to SGU/Ross/AUC students and inquire there.

3) Use FREIDA (google it) to search for appropriate residency programs outside of the above in your choosen specialty in California. E-mail them and ask about the possibilty of electives.

(A potential problem with any or all of the above maybe malpractice insurance, for which I do not have an answer)

Good luck.
