SamRoss,
Several posts state that there is a long wait (6 months) for the Maryland rotations like Harbor Hospital. Was that the case for you?

I requested it now, and they gave me a choice of either January or March... I had to take March because I am starting at Huron in Cleveland now and I won't be done till mid february... so it wasn't a 6 months wait for me... but St. Agnes in Baltimore had a longer wait list, for surgery at least...

I was wondering if you're from Maryland and your family is there, would it make a difference in getting rotation in Baltimore? Do the Ross clinical admins look at stuff like that or is it just a first come first serve.

Samross:
Isn't it easier to take all clinical rotations in the same city. This way you don't have to pack up and find new housing and become familiar with another location.
Are some of the better rotations located in areas where thee there are only one or two avalable rotations?
Thanks for your thoughts

I went to Harbor last January. Id say it could not have been any better than it was. The residents are extrodinarilly smart and love to teach. Most of them had 99's or 98's on there USMLE's. Only reason they are not at places like harvord or hopkins is because of H1 visas. Its a beautiful hospital on the water. The director is extreamly nice. He is from Duke and is pleased to write letters of recomendation. I learned a lot there. They had us buy and read a MKSAP question book. 50 questions from it consisted of our final exam. St Agnus i heard was good aswell, you can do surgery there. Overall Harbor is a great experience. They even had a party for us at the end of the rotation. It was like a big familly. I will say you dont do much procedures. But you will learn procedures when you do residency. Procedures is not whats important for USMLE and I dont know why people are so caught up on not having enough procedures, lol. Anyway good luck everyone. Oh they have a housing list too, i paid like 300 for a nice room to rent next to hospital.
