Is it Manipal or Money-Pal...Answer me after reading this article

The manipal got two or more traditional medical colleges in india , one twinning programme between india and malasia , and one traditional college in nepal.

The colleges in india are under manipal deemed university , which means all the seats are to the management and zero seats towards the medical colleges entrance candidates.(ofcourse they do boast of their own "entrance" exam in which students who are in the last row of medical colleges entrance lists only find positions , surprisngly).

OFCOURSE THE KASTURBA MEDICAL COLLEGE , MANIPAL HAS GOT A GOOD NAME AND IT IS REALLY PITIFULL THAT ITS ONLY ON THIS NAME THAT THE ENTIRE MANIPAL GROUP IS PLAYING.

Even then , it is nice to bring in notice that KMC was acccused by medical council of india for doing fraud by allowing more NRI payement seats than allowed ( which may go up to 50 lakhs indian Rs , un officially) , and it resulted in the withdrawal of recognisation of KMC for some time , eventhough later manipal got the "PERMISSION" to admit students and not permanent recogniation.

Then consider india - malasia twinning MBBS programme. its entirely out of controll of MCI and it got all the seats in payement.( which is extremly rare in india ) . And the quality of twinning programme is still on suspect.the programm is just like carrib distant education and only thing different is that for two years the students will be in the real university chartered place , malasia.but is two years attendence in a university enough for licencure.?. i think many medical boards require physical presence at WHO listed schools for more than two years.also consider that the two years at WHO listed university is for clininc alone.

Then consider manipal college in nepal. the fee structure is 22 lakhs indian Rs, according to their website , while other colleges with the same same universities are charging 13-14 lakh indian Rs.

i do understand that manipal got a decent name in india because of their old colleges and it is because of that no body speaks up aganist it.

but i do feel its heading to a name MONEY-PAL because of its non-transparent and money based admissions.

in response to this i do expect a lots a good history about KMC and all , but what i am talking about is no the quality of KMC , but the admission process to all manipal colleges , especially the non-traditional ones , which is based on no tests and only MONEY.

After reading your article, I found a lot to find fault.

Next time you insert a 'published' article that serves as a critique, it would be wise to include references, so that the reader would be able to conduct his own research into the matter.

Furthermore, any cited source without any references is usually taken as null, since anybody with any intention could have written it.

About the claims, to be honest ,I skimmed through. I should be reading Physio right now...

The conflict with the Indian Medical Society is true. We were briefed on this issue at orientation.

The conflict truly lies in the Karnataka Branch of the Indian Medical Society. The Karnataka Government wanted to limit the number of foreign students entering to study, as this would supposedly limit the number of available seats for Indians. However, Manipal Can't be compared on the same basis as other Government schools. It's reaches are far and wide, with the international campuses. Hence the school must be considered through a different looking glass. Besides, the Board of Regents for Manipal has a member from the Medical COuncil of India and the Indian Supreme Court. The school's leadership is wise to the encroaching conflicts faced by an institution facing a rapid growth spurt within a society that is not accustomed to internationalism.

After being here for 4 months, I can say that India is a beautiful, traditional and xenophobic place. They like foreigners, but they don't want to be over run by them :D

Might have something to do with Colonialism?

Anyhow, this is a wonderful school. I have personally looked at the Material the Melaka Twinning Program encounters, and it is an intense program....They are tested weekly on material.

Down the hall from me in the dorm I occupy, There are 4 guys from my country, 3 from malaysia, 2 from Mauritius, 4 from the states.

Not sure what else I can say....

Oh yeah...I am paying the same amount, if not less of what I would have ended up paying for my education in N. AMerica. Of course the main reason I am here is b/c I couldn't get in anywhere back home, and I want to be close to Sri-Lanka...but This School Is Really Going Places...and fast.

Last thing...no bribes here.

Hello,

I have been accepted into the Twinning program for the March 2005 intake. I am from Canada. I want to know if this program is credible. Does anyone have information about the program and its recognition both in India and in Malaysia, as well as abroad(US/UK/etc.)?
