1. What determines where a student do their clinicals?
2. Do students have their choices of where they would like to go?
3. Is there a long waiting period before a student begin their clinicals?
thanks

You work with your clinica counselor to set up a schedule. You can request certain rotations, and if there are slots it is basically first come first serve. You can choose them based on location or based on scheduling without gaps. Usually you end up taking whatever is open. NY has the most slots, so most of us end up there. That does not apply to Kern, which is somewhat competitive. It also does not apply to Chicago, which is first come first serve for Internal, but once you have that you are in for everything.

So does that mean you can do all your rotations in Chicago if you get into IM there? How are the rotations there, I heard they give out A's like candy on Halloween.

It depends on a number of criteria.

Your preference being the last.
High Ross GPA and USMLE scores automatically give you priority.
