Wow, what a great hospital!!!! I had low expectations for PMH, but this a lot more than I expected. I'll do whatever it takes to do my rotations down here!!!!!

Vanessa: I believe the picture is a joke.

As I recall the Princess Margaret Hospital is on the left side of the road leading from Ross to Rosseau, and it is just before you get in town. It is set back from the main gait. It sort of looks like a one story aqua and white version of the PBH. The only air-conditioned room is the OR, from what I've heard. There is no ICU. Monitoring capabilities are poor to nil.

....anybody want to help me here?

PMH has four adult wards.
women's surgical/OBGYN
men's surgical
women's medical
men's medical
All are open-air facilities.

There is an a/c L&D ward with separated pre and postnatal wards. There is a NICU and a standard nursery area.

There are two peds units: medical and surgical. The peds unit has a/c. They have the ability to maintain kids on vents for short amounts of time, but it's my understanding they only intubate adults on short term basis in the casualty (ER) or the OR.

There are 3 OR suites that were built within the last few years. This part of the hosp looks like any regular OR in the states.

There's a large OP dept that handles different specialties (GI, surg, heme/onc, med, etc.), depending on what day of the week it is. There's separate community health, OBGYN, and peds OPD. The dialysis unit has 6 machines and pts that come in 2-3 times per wk. There's a psych ward, but I've never seen it. Some of the OPD have a/c, while others do not.
The adjacent Ross facility houses other OP clinics for derm, etc.

From just looking at PMH, you wouldn't think that it has these services within the facility. PMH may not have a lot of the supplies and technology that a US hosp has, but it does utilize what it has very well.
