Hi All , i would like to have some information on UNIVERSAL COLLEGE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES, BHAIRAHAWA, NEPAL under Tribhuvan University.

Is the college good.? is it recognised by Medical council of india.? i would be very thank full if anyone can help me with genuine details about the college , which is some times called UCMS.

Hi ,

The Bhairahawa Medical College , Nepal formally named UCMS , is pretty good.

The college got an awsome 120 acres of green campus and is just some 2-3 Kms away from india.

It is attached to 700 bedded UCMS medical college hospital and the hospital has got all the departments , infrastructure all.

The bhairahawa medical college is affiliated to The Tribhuvan University , Nepal and is function undering the Institute Of Medicine.The degree is accorded recognisation by India , Bangladesh , pakistan and sri-lanka other than Nepal. And is formally accepted by GMC for registration in the UK. But , bhairahawa medical college is yet to receive the individual MCI recognisation which is expected by the end of this year , since MCI has visited the campus thic year.

The college is promoted by NRIs and has many international linkages. It has many sister colleges worldwide including St.Lucia , UAE , India though all these are not connected academicly.

The college is providing 28 scholorship seats to medical entrance exam candidates in both MBBS and BDS.

hi i'm from Nepal and i would like to tell u that please dont prefer this college ..it's not like as liveten20 said ..can u imagine even for a simple delivery case patients get referred to the govt hospital near by that college ...i dont want to mention more coz alot of discussion are going about this college in another medical forum and i have also personally been there ...

Really sorry to say wat all i sed abt UCMS , now after being for some time , was wrong.

What they say is not wat is seen there.

Just some small un-plastered buildings , rented from another college , thts the college and tht also is shared with some agriculture school.

Hostels , lecture halls all are just sub-standard.

And hospital , may be 300 beds, thts it.

No permanent NMC and no MCI , but there website says they got both. Nepal medical council does nothing aganist it ,

guys...all of those who r reading this msg...pls take it serious. UCMS college is not wat u guys see in their brochure or internet site or any damn thing. its much much worse. they dont have any MCI or NMC recognition...since they r under IOM, they have TU university recognition,and since TU is under WHO they have tht also.
MCI is never gonna give recognition for this collge since these people dont have any good staff....alll are over aged doctors working there. And on top of all this the management is the most worst one ive ever seen in my life.
So guys...if u wanna join this college its at ur own risk!!!!

hey i just wanted to say ucms is really a pathetic place... a lotta struggling u have to go thro.. esp the office people r real cheats who just wanna loot peoples money and the brochure is not at all describin ucms.. it's i think descibin som other college!
well if u really wanna join a college dont go to ucms.. just spend a littleextra cash and join somewhere in india...
that place as such is a crazy pace as u know the locals can get wild if they dont like indians.....
then...the food is really detriortatin...with cockroach leg once and worms too in the noodles.
but somedays the food is ok... maybe since i didnt find any insects on those days.hehe

Did u guys hear abt UCMS,nepal. ucms is now recognised by indian govt.finally the college people managed to get the recognition.yipeeee....
but the problem is now the assholes in mci r not allowing students frm ucs to register.they have their own reasons.but the truth is its already published in the gazette,tht ucms is recognised my ministr of health and family welfare.of india.
Can anyone tell me whts the problem now with those mci people?
