Well, it didn't take long for DeVry's recent financial trouble to affect us. I got a letter from the Bursar office today. Starting 1/2005, there will be a 7.9% and 8.0% tuition increase for Basic and Clinical Science, respectively. A whopping $12,000/semester for Clinical Students! Increase in tuition does not mean better services, however, the clinical dept. is still inept and incompetent. I know of a couple of friends who have gotten their core rotations canceled or rescheduled without any warning from Dr. P's little brother. Real helpful!!

Why were the core rotations cancelled or rescheduled. I think itis the responsibilty of Ross to keep students on track for the residency match. If there are more students than places to do rotations then Rossshould find more hospitals tto affiliate with. On the other hand if it was the students fault then ross should not be responsible. Is Dr Perri located in New Jersy or Florida?

Mr. Singer,
Our Clinical Dept. does not keep track of its students. For instance, I am a 9/02 student who is on track for 2006 match. Dr. P's little brother had me scheduled to do cores until next November! All of us have to fight with the clinical department to get an acceptable schedule. I am 100% positibe the clinical dept. does not know/care when we match. As long as the checks clear, you know? They know that we are at their mercy to graduate so there is little, if any, support.
My friends called the hospitals a week before their rotations were scheduled to begin but they were told their names were not on the hospital list. Well, upon calling Mr. P they were told their hospitals had been changed and canceled. My friends never received any email or phone call from him.
Dr. Perri is at the NJ office.

So, can anybody tell me what this 7.9-8% increase is going to do for the students? Anything?
I figured the increase in class sizes (1st) would be plenty of extra income .
I don't mind fee increases if I see benefits from it, but I hate it when I'm paying more money each semseter, and see no changes in materials or facilities for the students.
But still, at least it's not St. George's tuition :? .

another $900 extra per semester. An extra 10000$ for medical education.
We'd better see better clinical training and accomodations....
malpractice insurance + high education cost = patients get screwed. :P
looks like i'm gonna have to settle for a corolla instead of a lexus when I graduate.....
This is exactly why I just chose Saba over Ross. An extra $10,000 just made that decision easier. I don't see the advantage of paying almost 50% more when ultimately I will end up in the same place.
No advantages for being a "Devry" grad.
Thanks Ross,
KDog.
