I just got accepted for January.. I'm not sure if i'm going yet.. I'm current in grad school.. i'm wondering maybe i should finish grad school before i attend Ross, just for a safety net.. on the other hand, I feel like i wouldn't need the grad with an MD.. I talked to a St. George grad today, '96-00.. he bashes foreign schools, because the U.S. looks down on foreign grads.. and he wasn't able to find a job after receiving his board in california, also, "specializing is almost impossible coming from the islands." Does anyone know the status of Ross grads? Are they well accepted??? I got a chance to talk to the 5th semester students, they seem too positive with Ross.. and since they haven't graduated yet, they probably wouldn't have the real picture of life after Ross in the U.S. I've probably left out a lot of questions I wanted to ask.. so extra info will be greatly appreciated. I feel that i would have a good chance of a U.S. school after i finish my current program and retake the MCAT.. I took mine years ago, only once, didn't do too bad, but my undergrad GPA was terrible.. It does occur to me that i could wait several more years and try for a U.S. school.. but with those years, i could be done at Ross.. so my main concern is really about getting jobs, and maybe specializing..
thanx in advance

There are planty of jobs out there for IMG's. And a number of caribbean grads filling them. If not sure, come to Europe. Good programs there too. Good luck! 8)
I am a ross grad, working in Internal medicine in the SE in a very good university hospital residency. i am being recruited heavily for jobs all over the states at this time. i am turning them all down,as I am applying for a fellowship in heme/onc. As for grad school, it depends on what it is in. I have a MS in molecular bio, and for heme/onc, it is paying off big time. of course, I had actually never even thought of doing heme/onc until I had done a month of it as an intern. I have since done more, and realised it is waht Iwant to do, so its not like I had a "master plan" with grad school.

About that heavy recruiting thing...
I remember in the business computing world, you could get woo'ed heavily by a recruiter then realize they just needed bodies and you jumped the fence into a dead end position.
Has that ever happened to doctors ?

With all those offers, what kind of scores did to get on your USMLE's??
the peopel in my program last year are all VERY happy in their jobs. few are aleady on track for partners in the practices. as for my scores, step 1 avg, strep 2 well above that. (easier exam). still havent gotten my butt in gear to take step 3. Have not taken any interviews, as I am shooting for fellowship. But an idea of offers? salaries starting around $150 to 190K, most with signing bonuses up to 50K. soem as hospitalists, some in private practices. The guys who finsihed last year all (except for those who went on to fellowships) are making about exactly what those offers are.
