in case any future students haven't heard yet, the new histo/embryo prof is aweome, completely opposite of the old one. The classes are now focused on clinical material and relevance, rather then tedious, random, non-MLE style information. definitely good news for all taking him.

YES!! Dr. Rogers, the new embryo/histo teacher is great. In fact, when the 1st semester students found out that there was a new embryo/histo teacher, everyone started cheering and clapping. Also, after his first class, everyone was cheering and clapping. No offense to the old embryo/histo teacher, he is definitely a nice guy and knows his stuff, but he can not teach like Dr. Rogers can.

Is this the same Dr. Rogers that was at AUC?

Well, the one here is also named Peter, so unless there are two histo profs named Peter Rogers who teach at carib schools, they are one and the same.

Good to know that he's back stateside...tell him we all said "Hello" from AUC.
Enjoy you Histo & Embryo...his teaching style is quite dynamic and enthusiastic.

Wow, Dr. Rogers is now at SMU?! He was my embryo prof at AUC. Looks like I'll know at least one person there if I'm lucky enough to start in January. Hey AmericanIMG, you're Jyotu's cousin? My name is Mehrdad and I was his friend at AUC. Are you from OC too? It really is a small world. Now I can't wait to start school again! :D

he was very enthusiastic about the material but at least when we had him he didn't have his timing right for the pace of med school yet so we learned male and female reproduction very well and it was downhill from there because there wasn't enough time to cover the things he wanted so from about half semester on at least for myself i learned almost nothing in embryo and am having to catch up now in kaplan. hopefully he got his timing down for you guys but he is very approachable and good to talk to to specially over a cold presidente.
mehrad good luck in january, and good luck to smu with mehrad there, you all think i don't shut up and speak my mind wait til you meet this guy...

I'm not from the OC but I am his cousin...i cant believe he is a 4th semester already...i forgot they are on trimesters over there at AUC too...tell him to shoot me an email if you talk to him anytime soon, we are both so busy i havent talked to him in a few months...As far as Dr Rogers, he is doing a good job so far, i cant complain, he is a much better prof then our last one...no offense to the prior prof, who was extremely intelligent and who i respect, but i feel more comfortable with the new one. mehrad, see you in Cayman in Jan

did he use the first slide of embryo as.... "this class is about getting from here (embryo picture) to here (baby picture)?
anyway, ask him about that so called TIME mag article on SABA because he was the leak that spead the rumor in the first place to me. Unfortunately I spread it to valuemd and started a fire storm about 3 months ago.

I hardly ever write on this forum any more but i could not resist but comment on this topic.
SMU's best decision after relocating to the Cayman's was to hire Peter Rogers. He is an incredible teacher as well as person. I actually enjoy going to class because of him. I love this guy.
You should never believe anything you read but trust me when i say that the entire class will speak on his behalf.
He is great and if SMU does not keep him then many students to come will be short handed for not having been taught by such an excellent person. I taped his lecture and gave it to my sister who is also into teaching to give her an idea of how diffrent styles of teaching effect students. Aside from my sister i also showed his lecture to some other friends in the teaching profession, from elementary, undergraduate, to graduate professors. They all agree that he has a wonderful method of teaching and after speaking to a number of students it is indeed effective.
He is EXCELLENT and i do hope smu keeps him for the long run. If not, once i am successful and become a physician I will gladely hire him to help me.
SMU if anyone reads this .. KEEP THIS GUY.. you will benefit in the long run.. if his asking price is too high just give him whatever he asks it will defenetly be worth it.

I concur with everything you said... Dr. Rogers is wonderful and his teaching style is extremely effective... I did very well on his Histo and Embryo exams and got the concepts down well because of his method... He is also a very entertaining person and makes coming to class pleasant... This is not a bash fest for our former Embryo / Histo teacher as he was a very nice man as well but I am able to get the message better from Dr. Rogers...
