How does the school calculate your class rank when you are applying to residency? Do they use your 1st and 2nd year grades only, or does your 3rd year grades play a role? what about 4th electives? and, what is most important....i was told only 1,2 and 3rd years are used, with 3rd being most important......any information on ranking students??

Does that mean if you are not ranked high compare to others will decide or affect your clinical site

I think you are probably getting a little ahead of yourself. I can say with a pretty good degree of certainty that Class Rank is a minor consideration when the time comes to apply for residency and even for clinicals.

There are many more things that are much more important.

Take a deep breath and go back to your books.

Best of Luck!

Most important factor for clinical placement is your Step 1 score. Most important factor for your residency, again are your USMLE scores. You can have C's in your classes and then study really hard and score well. You can also fluke your way through classes, getting A's and B's, but do poorly on USMLE. Grades usually indicate how much you know, though, at least at this school, since they try their best to prepare you for the boards, so work hard in class and those USMLE 90's will follow. Good luck!
