Hey all. If someone has completed all of their prereq's........what is a standard GPA for admission. Even lets ask, "How low will they go?" as far as a GPA.
Some have said that competition for admission varies among quarters, would your quarter of application affect what GPA is required?
Anyone willing to share the GPA they got in ANYWHERE with?
Thanks to all give some input on this one!

Its not how low a medical school accept candidate or how fast I will complete the program or if non residency clerckship acceptable or no mcat or 90 hrs pre-med ok....you must ask yourself what is the minimum standards in USA med schools?
My simple advise:
-complete ALL premed courses minimun 90 hrs ** degree recommended.
-GPA 3.5 ideal [never below 3.0]
-complete all basic sciences in charter country
-complete all core clerkships in teaching hospitals
-try to obtain residency in University hosp[residency certificate will be issued by USA med school]
Board certifications is a must
short cuts will eventually hurt people down the road.

The only thing I would add based on the waves of changes that is taking place in the near future[I personally do not agree with the approve/not approve lists because I been to so many med schools in the Middle East/Africa i.e.Liberia,Libya,Basra,Allpo,Sudan,Russia....and many of such schools I can describe as "Mickey Mouse at best" but never requires site visits and on the approved list] but the fact that there are such lists therefore: you must attend California approved school to be on the safe side.

Reviews all international schools is a good idea, the federations looking at this matter at this time and I believe they will have fair recommendations based on abilities of IMG's to pass exams, recieve quality residencies, and get certified by speciality boards to be experts in their area of practice.I believe it will be hard for organization like the federation to say "ok sadam told us Basra univ is the best so its approved and X university will be site visited and reviewed because we read somewhere its small!!!to avoid bais and discrimination all or non rule should be done.

I read the KY article, last year CT article associated med schools to intubation and this article associating billing fraud to med education? the KY article associating bad behavior to med education?and mentioning 4 doctors from Spartan who has nothing to do with this is unfair and discriminatory,we see on 20/20 and 60 minutes programs of so many sad stories about treating a patient with chemo turns to be treating the wrong patient, cutting the wrong leg, surgery without a good reasons and never in any of those programs mentions to med schools of graduation!!there are bad doctors from the best schools and good doctors from the smallest schools and that is a fact .

I like to give my personal analysis of what scanerios International med schools might face[I always state international med schools and not offshore schools to avoid targeting certain region ],the 7 states[OH,NC,OK,...]requested the FSMB to evaluate and recommend rules that will be followed by them, the recommendations will be out April 05[FSMB spring meeting],If they recommend disapprovals of certain schools then that will be the end of dozens of schools, previously licensed MD's from those schools most likely will retain their licenses,If they approve schools & set strict rules like licensures, residency, board certifications, and no malpractice history and excellent records for certain schools then that will open big legal doors in many states that closes its doors against some.Very interesting to wait and see what will happen.I believe most States will eventually follow the FSMB rules and recommendations.I recommend the formation of CMA[carribean med association],set its rules and if a school does not meet high standards will not be given membership[like carribean association of med colleges]

I think its an insult to every offshore graduate, evey Spartan Alumni, student, and honest successful physician to be mentioned in an article bringing up criminal allegations against individuals who committed a seriuos crimes unrelated to education[alleged],the school, the students, the residents, the alumni, and the AMA must response to this article and protest descrimination otherwise people will keep taking advantage of these school PR weakness and with every crime committed in the world they will be accused to take part of it.Hundreds of offshore grads are very qualified and more qualified than many other IMG and its unfair to be targeted and discriminated against specifically articles discussing billing fraud and illegal drugs sale ,we demand the AMA and speciality boards to protect the offshore schools rights when such offshore members are in good standing with such organizations.

I will send my kids to USA schools ,if not possible I will send them to places with poor education in remote area like Syria,Sudan,Egypt, wowy Island!the bad news they will have much worse education than the carribean schools, the good news such schools immune from CA site visits and approved in all states and that's what count these days.
