If one were to graduate from a Caribbean medical school say, in 1999- and after several years this school obtains full approval in say, in California, 2008- Would this '99 graduate be able to practice with state licensure, or would this only apply to the graduates produced after the date of approval, '08?

as far as i know, it depends on the school...some may get retroactive approval for all grads, some schools may not qualify.
i don't think it is something that you can count on 100%, but it is possible to have the retroactive approval. ms. park, are you out there? maybe you can give a better answer...thanks!

I believe that approvals such as this are not retroactive, since the state medical board cannot attest to the acceptability of a school prior to the date it was approved. In general, selecting a medical school based on speculations of future state approvals is not a recommended practice.
