I am an SGU student that was lucky enough to have gone home to NY last Sunday before the hurricane struck. I was supposed to come back to Grenada with my family on Tuesday. Obviously, I did not yet go back and currently do not plan to bring my family for at least a month.
I do not understand how the school plans to restart classes, if by all accounts, most students who live off campus (which is a large majority of 2nd and 4th termers) have lost there personal effects and houses have been damages to a degree to make them uninhabitable. How can the school expect students to participate in classes if they are barely living out of a bookbag.
I think everyone should encourage the school to delay classes until students can get resettled. I personally have no idea what to expect when I get back, I don't even know if our house is still standing.
My thoughts go out to all the students on Grenada.
