Thanks for sharing that one. So far we've been lucky in that area, although I think they may have gotten the edge of a tropical storm after we left - I didn't keep up much with the weather.
Researchin, you're still there right? Did you guys get a sprinkle?

Yeah, when we visited the island, the locals said that the worst of the hurricanes hit from 1989 to 1999 - it has been calm since then.
I think the last big one was in 1998 or somewhere wround then in which 80% of Saba was destroyed.
Wolf, I'll hit you up later and give you all the details on our trip... sorry that I haven't spoken to you in a while. Just trying to wrap up work - been with a new client and am travelling to Kentucky every week.

As my landlord pointed out, at least on Saba we don't have a prison full of scary people waiting to get out if a hurricane destroys the place, like Grenada.
What a scary situation for them!!

Seems odd that Saba would be ahead of Statia when you can almost spit and hit it from Booby Hill. Also wonder why SXM and St. Barth's would be so much further down when they are also so very close. Plus Nevis and not St. Kitt's? Strange.
It used to be the Big Four> (Who's the fifth? and I ain't talking about Key West - though that is pretty good company).
Best of Luck!

I dunno....I guess they just lumped Statia and St. Barths in with Saba weather-wise. Good question, though.
Some prospective students are referring to St. Matts as the fifth best caribbean school after SGU, Ross, AUC, and Saba, since they got NY approval and had their CA site visit right after Saba did.
Old timers around here have reminded me that the "big 3" actually used to refer only to the size of SGU, Ross, AUC, and that people over time have misinterpreted the term to mean the "better" quality caribbean schools, and so have added Saba and maybe St. Matts to that list.
I happen to agree with the new usage, but of course students from other non "big" whatever caribbean schools do not agree.
Sorry for the explanation if you already knew that.
