Hi,
Can anyone please tell me if it's a good idea to ship stuff to Grenada? Also can 1st termers negotiate with school authorities to buy their own textbooks in the states and ship them? I heard you can get great deals online. Thanks for your replies.

A lot of people have to ship stuff down to grenada due to airline luggage limits. Most people ship stuff via Amerijet. As far as getting your package in good shape they are reliable however the big downside is that you will be charged quite a bit of cash depending on what you shipped from the not so friendly grenadian customs agents. Extreme example: one of my roomates (a diabetic) was charged 400 EC (about 150 US) for his insulin shipment. As far as the text books are concerned as a first termer you basically have to get all the books they supply which you have paid for. If you have your own already you can't get a refund so don't bring any books down first term. In later terms you have a choice of what text books you want the school to get for you. Frankly I'd forget the online deals and shipping them because it will cost a lot to ship and then you'll be charged customs when you pick them up. Now if you can bring some books down in your suit case without breaking the scales that could work.

Thanks. So how about sending food, clothes and personal items through the Caribbean shipping companies. Is that also a hassle? I'm worried about spending too much money on food sold over there or not having time to cook good meals during school time.
