this is unbelievable. we had classes cancelled last tuesday at AUC due to *******. now ******* is gonna torment florida again. but this is now crazy. we already have TD 9 in the atlantic and although very far out, it is predicted to be a hurricane and affect grenada early next week. however it is such a long way out, that it can hit anywhere in the islands.
woaaaaaa...... this is the most active season ive seen in years.... decades.... with landfalling hurricanes

earle ran through here, cancelling a lot of orientation stuff on Sunday, but it was a TS so I guess that doesn't really count (good thing, going through a hurricane is never fun-didn't have power for 5 days and no drinkable water for a week after Isabel and we were lucky!!)

I thought that Grenada is outside the hurricane belt?? Does that just mean that hurricanes don't usually hit Grenada or that it never has.

Because of Grenada's location at the southern end of the Caribbean archipelago, it is outside the traditional hurricane belt. At most the island receives very occasional heavy rains during hurricane season. The last
hurricane to visit the island was in 1955 when Hurricane Janet took a freak turn to the south. Prior to Janet, no living resident of Grenada had witnessed a hurricane on the island.

this one may do it. go to nhc.noaa.gov and check out the maps and charts of ivan. my god..... pray we dont experiance one in the islands. frances skimmed us on st maarten on tuesday with 35-40 mph winds monday night.tuesday morning. it was a non-event. however, the electricity was out all night and i guess a water main burst because we had muddy tap water.....
these islands just have no infrastructure to handle these things.

everyone on Valuemd, it was nice knowing you. It is also nice knowing that on Tuesday morning when Ivan visits us, I will be swept away from the comforts of my suite into some giant storm, not to be heard of every again.

As of 11AM Monday, we've been upgraded from a Hurricane watch to a warning...
Hopefully the building codes are up to it... :?
