I BOUGHT A LAPTOP LAST MAY (B4 I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE REQUIREMENTS SGU LISTS) AND IT HAS AN INTEL CELERON PROCESSOR INSTEAD OF THE INTEL CENTRINO. I'VE HEARD THAT THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THE BATTERY LIFE. WILL TAKING EXTRA BATTERIES MAKE UP FOR THE DIFFERENCE.
IF ANYONE KNOWS PLEASE HELP!

a centrino equipped laptop is NOT a must at SGU.
extra batteries may or may not be a good idea - this depends on your own demands, and the current battery life you get. If you intend on using your laptop in class alot, maybe an extra battery would be a good idea, since power cords can be used in class, but getting an outlet isn't easy.
everywhere else on campus you're studying will probably have a power outlet - although you may need to get a plug adapter.
sorry about the long winded reply - bottom line: don't worry too much about the whole "centrino" requirement.
you can search past posts to get more verification on this.

Ditto the don't need the Centrino... I think also part of recommending the Centrino was that it would contain a compatible wireless card, since wired ethernet ports are around, however there are more wireless "hotspots." As long as you have a 802.11b or g, you'll be all set.
