I'LL BE STARTING IN JANUARY '05 AND THOUGHT IT WOULD BE NICE TO MEET A FEW OTHER WOMEN WHO MIGHT NEED A ROOMMATE. I'VE NEVER HAD A ROOMMATE BEFORE (I LIVED OFF CAMPUS IN AN APARTMENT DURING UNDERGRAD), SO I'M HOPING I CAN FIND SOMEONE I LIKE BEFORE I GO DOWN THERE. I HOPE TO HEAR FROM SOME PEOPLE, I WOULD LOVE TO AT LEAST KNOW A FEW NAMES BEFORE I HEAD DOWN THERE.

If you are an incoming first termer, Housing will send you a survey to match you up with someone. If you do not list a friend's name on the form, then it's the luck of the draw. Good luck!

Ditto on the caps :P

Sorry guys, but the computer I was using when I typed that was old and the caps lock was stuck. My mother has one really old computer at her office and it was the only one I could use at the time. Now I am at home, so I don't have to type in caps, Yeah!!!!

Hi Drolbo,
I PM'd you so let me know when you're available. I'm new to this site and not too sure how to retrieve a message if I'm PM'd so help me if you can.
Thanks. Mabel.

hey drolbo, congrats on your acceptance... i'm a female from los angeles california... originally from san diego, and accepted for the jan 05 class. do you plan to live in one of the superdorms or at Grand Anse? i chose Grand Anse because it's cheaper, bigger and has a better view(so they say).

Mabel,

I have PM'd you, and to retrieve it look under the big white banner that says Value MD and you will see where it either says No New PM's or I got Mail!. Hope that helps.

Hey Jaja,

Congrats to you as well. I actually chose to live on campus at least for the first term, but I suppose we could still change our mind as of right now. I didn't find this website until last week, and hadn't heard anything about Grand Anse. I would like to live by the beach though. Anyway, I'm coming to Los Angeles October 29-30, maybe we could meet up for a few minutes and have a drink or something. I would really like to at least know a few faces when I get down there so I won't feel completely lost. Let me know, you can post on here or PM me.

Well, as a 1st termer you don't get to "choose" to live off campus, you are required to do so (that's not to say you can't get special permission to live off campus if you're married, have an SO living with you, or have a pet) and most all will be placed in one of the Superdorms (usually #2)- trust me they're not that "super".
As for living on Grand Anse that is usually overflow from True Blue. There are people who choose to live over at Grand Anse- there are pluses its right on the beach, near the grocery store and restaurants, and you feel like you get away from campus, but there are negatives as well - GA was the original campus and it was originially an old hotel that the school bought, so the buildings are well over 30 years old, you have to rent a frig- doesn't come with the room-and the cooking facilities are outside, and you have to rely on the bus to get to class(service is good, but buses get pretty full when everyone is going to class). Many people who get placed over there request to move over to true blue and then you have to deal with housing(THAT is another thread altogether!).
If you can request housing, ask for a 6 person double (3 rooms that share a common area, each room is shared by 2 people), these rooms are SOOO much better than the tiny superdorm ones.
