Hi,
I'm in the process of filling up the application to Ross Medical School.
The essay is asking "what can you bring to world of medical health in today's multicultural society?".
Can anyone provide me with an example of what they mean by that.
thank you

its asking you to realize the fact that your patients will all come from a plethora of backgrounds (basically, a representative sample of the entire multicultural US population), and wants you to state what you can do to help realize this and help your patients. remember, different cultures out there have different ways of accepting death, different ways about how to dress (some cultures dont like to reveal skin, and hospital gowns are revealing...a recent news article spoke of new, more "complete" gowns to help these people), etc. do some research into how diff cultures practice medicine in their home countries, and then introduce how these may arise as problems when american medicine is practiced upon these patients. i didnt think the topic was that difficult to understand.

I don't know if it's difficult to understand, but it is definitely challenging to write about yourself AND that in under 300 words...
Oh well. Good luck on your apps!

Just say something nice. Trust me, this is a formality. But, know that Ross is very multicultural itself. There are people from all different cultures, creeds, and ethnic backgrounds on Dominica. Living there and adapting to the local lifestyle is no picnic either. If you come from a very homogeneous background and are uncomfortable around people who are different from you, you're going to have a hard time in Dominica... and in medicine in general. That's really what the question is getting at.
