Hey guys,
I read in other posts that it is smart to buy your books from the US, rather than the DR. The reason behind that is because they say most, if not all the text sold here is in Spanish. So what text books would I need to buy? Thanks

At least at INTEC the professors will recommend a text or several texts that you might use but most professors don't rely too heavily on any particular one. What I have done and has worked for me so far is to see what books are being used at american medical schools and bring those with me. If you're in a spanish program you might want to have a few books to help you translate or with terminology in spanish at least for the basic sciences (for clinicals you'll no doubt want a great deal more spanish reading material). If you're in an english program then you're right, it will be nearly impossible for you to find any variety of english medical textbooks, they are all translations of american texts. If it's american books you want, it's from america that they'll have to come. So long as you purchase books that are being widely used in american programs, chances are you'll be fine, the material is the same, it's just a matter of how it's presented.Take care and God Bless.

I just finished reading your response for the textbook situation and I was wondering how would you know what the most popular textbooks are in the u.s.? Because I'm still in high school and I don't know anyone that is in college that could help me out.

I got my information from a friend who's in med school in Louisiana. I'll dig up the list and I'll put it up here. You can also do a search on yahoo and look up various medical titles and see which are the biggest sellers. Take care and God Bless.
