Does anyone know, can we take our doggie to the Island, or does he have to stay with grandma in the states?

I'm taking both of mine. Housing and transportation are your biggest concerns. Let me know if you have any questions?

I have a Sheltie that I bring with me whenever I travel to and from the island. He's small so I take him in the cabin with me as carry on in a soft sided carrier and put him under the seat in front of me. Not sure what kind of dogs you have and how big they are, but if they're too big to be in the cabin, and would have to travel in cargo in a kennel, keep in mind that they don't allow that during the hot months of the year, so I think you can't travel with a pet in cargo during the August/September break period, and depending what temperatures are like, the April/May break is in question. Check with the airlines on the actual dates of restriction. If they are small enough to carry on, that's ideal, b/c you can bring them with you every time you want to, although the airlines gouge you for between $50-100 extra. As long as you have paperwork detailing their immunization record, you're golden, there's no quarantine going in either direction.

The temperature is a problem for most airlines, but Continental does offer service. They can't ship directly to St. Maarten, so you have to go to Puerto Rico first and then get to Saba somehow. I hope I have it worked out with Caribbean air and the Edge, but we'll see in a couple weeks.

I'm guessing you can't really have your dog 1st trimester...since you have to be in a dorm. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this. I would love to be able to bring my little maltepoo - but it seems like it would be a big hassle, esp since so much time will be spent at the school and studying.
