Safe Deposit Box

Hello,

When we open an acct w/ a local bank, can we also request to pay for a safe deposit box to store our US passports & other documents?

if not, how can we be sure that passports are not going to be stolen?

maybe the one in Ports. but not the one in the school.
Everybody I know had their passport at home...
The dominicans here they dont really go after your passport.
I havent anything involving passport. They dont work for this people, everybody knows or have seen everybody here meaning the dominican, they cant use the passport for anything
