I was just wondering if there are any ethnic/international/Indo-pak stores on the island. Or would I have to bring my own supply of Basmati rice, spices, etc.?

Between the several grocery stores and the few speciality places you can get nearly everything. You can get Basmati at the regular store as well as most spices. In addition, the company that owns the Hurley's grocery stores also owns an import company and if there is something that you can't find there they will try and get it for you.

Thanks, khamilton. That's a relief, bcuz I was dreading having to pack ten pound bags of rice, lentils, etc. into my suitcases. Can you imagine the customs in the airport? They'd ask about the spices...

I was worried about the same thing when I moved here. I came with my husband so we actually shipped about 30 boxes down. We did it by boat so it wasn't that expensive. I brought 40lb of basmati and an entire box full of spices plus all of my good pots and pans.
