Does anybody know, if the St. Matthew's office in Orlando has been hit. I was scheduled to have a phone interview today, but it didn't happen. And I can't seem to get through on the phone calling the 1-800-498-9700 .
Is there any other ph# to contact the school? Their email seems to be down also.
Thanks!

Yep they were hit.
I was supposed to have my interview today as well. My parents called another number, and the operator said that the office has no power and everything is a mess. They might be back up at the earliest on thursday. This sucks!

The Oviedo Office is currently without power or phones.
The Seminole County Emergency Management Division has stated that all areas will have power restored no later than Friday at midnight.
However, I am working from my home, and I have had power since yesterday. I am also in Seminole County, about five miles from the office.
I would be very surprised if it took until Friday, as I believe that is for the more rural areas such as Chuluota or Geneva. The debris trucks are already cleaning up my neighborhood, and businesses within about two miles of the house are up and running.
We will reshcedule your interviews as soon as possible. We appreciate your understanding.
In the meantime, please contact the Niceville Office at 1-800-678-3301 for updates.

Is everything really a mess? I sent in my app packet this week. Are there files everywhere? Do I need to send in any copies of anything, in case if something is lost?

No, the physical facilities suffered almost no damage. I checked on the office first thing Saturday morning (after making sure my house was OK!) There was one door blown open in a non-critical area, with a little water and wind damage. 98% of the office was untouched, including admissions, clinicals, and records.
All of your documents are fine, there is no need to resend anything.

thirteenthstep, are you a transfer from ross?
if yes, why are you transferring? did you fail out or what? because i heard alot of stories that alot of ross students who got kicked out are "transferring" to SMU

I actually heard something like that too. I heard there are a lot of people who fail Ross and go to SMU. But nope, I'm transferring straight in and applying to get credit for every class I took at Ross. I left Ross because I couldn't handle Dominica anymore. The food was trash, my apartment was trash, I was showering in mud water, and my room was infested. I even have letters from the dean and my professors stating that I am in good academic standing. I'm a pretty solid applicant, however my only concern is getting in this semester or next. I really want to be in school ASAP. Hopefully I'll get out of Biochem, Cell Bio/Histo, Embryo, and Genetics.

hehe, actually, if and when I get in, im keeping a copy of my Ross transcript with me at all times to show people I AM NOT A ROSS FAILURE!! :D
I wouldn't want to be "that guy" that nobody wants to study with 'cuz they think I failed out of Ross. So the transcript is gonna stay in my wallet so I can show everyone.... look guys all A's and B+'s !!!!!!!!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Like...here's the thing about Ross...
Med school is a difficult and trying process, no matter where you go. Studying is a full time job, that goes overtime! Especially first 4 semesters. You get packets and packets and binders of information. All of this needs to be committed to memory. So to do that, it's all repetition repetition and repetition.
If you don't even have your basic needs met... like decent nutritious food... or clean water... or bathroom facilities that aren't trashed by criminal-like students... or seats to sit in class... the power going out for hours every other day... or even a quiet place to study....or limpoverished ocals that try to #@%$ you in every way possible...
How the hell can you get through the most difficult and trying part of your medical career?
