I have read the older posts about which books to buy etc but I never received anything from MEIO (any type of packet) with the offical book list the what to bring besides the obvious blah blah blah.... Now I am wondering should I get the books when I get down there should I buy now and ship them..... I have way to many things to think about at the last minute here! I am sure I am not the only one having a panic attack at this point.

Oh where should I stay for the 5 days until I can get in the apartment?

If you don't mind used books, then just come down here to buy them. There are lots of 2nd semesters and current 1st semester willing to unload their collection. The library has a decent selection of books as well so I wouldn't worry about 1st semester books too much.

Stay... Caravanserai(~80 a night).. or beg the housing department to let you in early(bring some krispy kremes, it might work and bring us some too)

I am going to lease Terra Hakers(?) place so I have to wait for them to move out .... I don't think donuts will help!
I have to thank you guys for putting up with my panic questions I am one of those people who like to plan WAY ahead and I hate flying by the seat of my pants and so far my experience has been a no planning situation.
I will be in complete panic mode by the time moving week arrives. It is a good thing the hubby is coming down with me to get me settled because he will probably have to peel me off the ceiling! Plus it will be our first time away alone in 13 years so we willactually have to talk to each other EGADS!

Maybe they were under the impression that waitlisted people don't need a booklist. 8)

Seriously, there will be more than enough used books floating around next semester. Note Services will hold a book consignment sale in the rotunda during the first few weeks of school. Anything you can't find there can probably be found in the library (the big room with all the books in it that I never go to...). As far as getting new books...you may be SOL since Note Services book orders were due 8/6/04. You may want to try amazon.com if you desperately need new stuff.

See you in a few!

the list from MEIO will not tell you which books to buy anyways.. it has all the required and recommended texts for each course and even that list, in my opinion, is already outdated. you will have a chance to probably find most anything you need here at the book buy back but in what condition and for what prices... who knows?? i have bought several texts from there but i dont mind used books. most students but not all students will list a fair price. another option is, if you get a mailbox account, to find cheap books online and ship them here. i really used this option... i went on sites like half.com and found a 60 dollar text for 20 dollars and shipped via mailbox. the shipping was a little higher since mailbox charges by weight but overall the book was cheaper. amazon will ship international but how long it takes to get it here varies greatly. i have received something as quickly as one week while a friend of mine received her Guyton's physiology text book after a whole semester after she ordered it (4 months!!!! it swam here).

as far as buying texts for first semester, everyone's opinions differ so much that i would recommend that you explore it yourself. people ask me what texts they should buy for anatomy and then ask someone else which contradicts what i told them in the first place... its all opinion. same with biochem.
