Does anyone know if there is anything worth reading or having that comes in the Orientation packet that MEIO sends out? After checking the tracking number MEIO sent me, they apparently sent it to my old school address and I have no inclination driving 200 miles to pick it up.

Know everything that the orientation guide encompasses. Cover to cover. Only then can you succeed at basic sciences.

In all honesty, it had a bunch of useful information, however, you've been on this forum for long enough to have assimilated a good deal of it and you'll be on island for the formal orientation soon. Don't worry about it. You really didn't need the "2004 Tuition Rebate Coupon" anyways.

the coupon is not important.

in all honesty, between the bus tour, registration q&a session, orientation advisor session, anatomy intro session....etc etc you guys will have the knowledge of fifth semester students in your first week of school.

it just sucks about that coupon... oh well...

Yeah, there's even a coupon for the Pt room but I guess that's not worth driving 200 miles for.

Maybe if you ask real nice, you can get a handsome leather folder embossed with none other than the AUC logo...perhaps you can even convince the powers-that-be to slip in an extra orientation guide (the one with the PR VIP card...).

Hey State...I just got mine in and it really doesn't have any info that we haven't seen yet on this site. It does include that leather notebook though. Maybe you can pick another up at orientation. See Ya on the 28th...

I already have Tony Chaceries packed in my suitcase. I also have some "Slap Yo' Mama" seasoning for all the true cajuns. Give us a week and we'll have the dorms littered with crawfish heads and beer cans with the LSU game on every TV!!

your orientation day is monday august 30th from 9am till noon in lecture hall 1. first lectures are tuesday.

your registration is the 29th 9am

your bus tour is the 28th

you will probably have an intro presentation to the anatomy class tuesday evening.

oh.. and your "get to know everyone" social is on the 26th 7pm Sunset beach bar.

white coat date is rumored to be the first week but i am not 100% sure about this. Jon??

Schedule for orientation.... goto school about 8:30 to register... wait in line for an hour. Get your ID card and register for school. Wait in line for another hour to do financial aid. Then get any books you ordered the school through that company upstairs in the histo lab(I think). Go to lunch. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR AMSA unless you have read what AMSA stands for and are comfortable with it(just don't be ignorant like the rest of us). Come back at 5 or 6 to have a mixer with free pizza and pop.

This just gives you an idea or the schedule, wait for the Prez to annouce the official schedule. As for the mixer, it is usually the 2nd Friday of class. I don't think they have decided on where to have the after party yet(last I heard, it was either hot tomatoes or Bamboo bernies, maybe somewhere else).

i was told by one faculty member and one student, both involved in the ceremony, that they believed the white coat was the first friday of school and that the mixer was going to be at bamboo bernie's. the prez can verify this with his official seal to make it official... either that or tell me i am stupid... one of the two.

Hello,

The orientation process will be streamlined for the Fall 2004 semester to alleviate potential long waits.

Registration: 1st Semester registration will be in the Rotunda on Saturday, August 28th 2004 from 800 AM to 500 PM. A mixer is scheduled to follow at 600 PM to 715 PM.

Returning students may register on Sunday August 29 from 800 AM to 5 PM and on Monday August 30 from 700 AM to 1200 PM.

I.D. Cards: I.D. cards will not be handed out during the registration period. Details to be finalized in the near future.

Financial Aid: After registering, you will be given a ticket with a specific time for you to see Financial Aid Counselors. The times are scheduled at 15-minute intervals. The ticketing system will hopefully resolve long lines and wait periods experienced by previous semesters.

Books: 1st semester students who have previously placed book orders through Note Services will be able to pick them up in the Histology Laboratory between 10 AM and 3 PM on Saturday, August 28 and Sunday, August 29th 2004.

I hope this information addresses these concerns.

They arrived by USPS. I got mine three days ago. It should've come to you by now. If not, don't worry. It is simply a leather folder with the AUC insignia on the front with an orientation guide included.

Don't worry, just make a big deal out of it tomorrow. Tell them to have one for you on the island(it probably won't make it out to you in time anyways)
