Can someone discuss the security at the Residence hall ...

1) Is there always a guard on site, night and day ?

2) Is there ample lighting in the hallway, parking area and entrance?

3) Are your SMU badges always required, if so is this rule enforced?

In addition how is cayman islands as a whole?... Are there a lot of crimes?

There is security provided 24/7 at the RH!

Grand Cayman is very safe. There is very low, if any, crime.

This was the last thing I was concerned about when I chose to come to SMU in Jan, 2004 and it definitely is not a concern now!

Yes 24/7, there is a security guards on duty. There are 22 cameras monitoring the exits, corridors and parking lot in case some students would mistake the R.H with a party place.

2) Is there ample lighting in the hallway, parking area and entrance?
Yes

3) Are your SMU badges always required, if so is this rule enforced?
Yes they are

DUDE,
you're living in a fantasy world if you think that there's no crime on Cayman. maybe you've been living in the residence hall for too long where there is no crime (except some dude in dreads that comes around late at night trying to sell you joints and peddal money off of you on Snooz Lane). Once you live in westbay, you'll see the crime. The cayman authorities try to keep the crime on the hush-hush so as to keep this clean reputation so that tourists aren't afraid to come here. But we have every crime that the states has, just not on Seven Mile Beach.

Hello,

I am not sure where you live in the US, but you cannot possibly compare the US and Cayman as far as crime rate.
Yes, there are few incidents here and there, but Cayman is still ranked as one of the safest place to live in the world and It is....
