Hi group,
I have an F in an otherwise excellent transcipt. I repeated the class and scored an A, but unfortunately the school doesn't replace the F with the new grade. Instead they factor in both grades (A and F). The problem is, this has kind of ruined my GPA. I didn't realize how much damage 1 bad grade can mess up everything.
Has anybody had similar prob like this?? and if so, is there any hope? any creative solutions??
Thanks for any advice, i need it!
O.P.

unfortunately, unless you are sleeping with the dean, there isn't much you can do. You can think of a really good excuse about why you got the F. G

Here's a really creative solution. Transfer to a school that doesn't factor in the F but just takes the new grade even though the old one stays on the transcript. That's what I did with comparative vertebrate anatomy "D". But in the end the medical school pulls out all the science and averages it-- I don't think there is anything you can do but find a "reason" for the grade.

First of all, don't freak. Everybody has a bad semester. You have done the best first thing. you repeated the course and made an A. If you can, try to take an advanced course in the same discipline. I'm betting your GPA is good enough to get your foot in the door. Once you're there explain why you failed the class, what you learned from the experience and how it will make you a better Physician.
It may sound a little hokey, but personal experiences are what shape us. This has obviously helped to shape you. Show them how it made you better.
Best of Luck!
