The cell biology portion is usually just 1-3 questions and focuses on Histology topics. I had both population and molecular genetics on my exam. Kaplan Q bank prepared me well for the population genetic portion. The molecular part was tricky and I relied on what I learned as a graduate student. Check out the USMLE Step 1 forum on this website, they have some very useful information there. Knowing molecular genetics will help you earn some extra points on the exam but neglecting it probably won't cause you to fail the exam if you know your pathophysio., pharm., anatomy, physiology, or behavioral well. PM me if you have any further Qs.
