Hey all. Anyone know how lax the admissions committee is at SMU? I have 1 year of chem, 2 years of bio, and unfortunately no physics and want to be a MD.

Are they demanding that you have the full 2 yrs chem, 1 bio, 1 physics or are the more relaxed and interested in a tuition paying customer?

I am just starting to finish off my prereq's, but was wondering if I should apply with what I have.

Any personal experiences are welcomed

all prereqs must be completed before admissions, you can apply without them but it would make no sense...

Why not just take them now since you have fall semester to do it and then apply for the jan semester once those are completed

you should have 1 year of gen chem, 1 year of org, 1 year of physics and 1 year of bio, so it will take more than a semester to complete all the classes that you are missing, so take your time and take them all before you apply, those are the pre-requisites, otherwise why even bother with going to college, if they will be taking everyone off the street, just because they have money

My bad, I read it wrong. what is the hurry? SMU will still be there when you're done. Enjoy college, it's the best time. I have, that's why i am going to an offshore school. :D No offense to anyone

SMU Premed requirements =
1 year of Biology w/ lab
1 year of Gen. Chem. w/ lab
1 year of O. Chem w/ lab
1 semester of Physics w/ lab

There is no way around these requirements, however, if you are in the process of completing the requirements, it would be a good idea to apply. That way you can possibly gain conditional acceptance until your remaining requirements are met.

Good luck!
