I am planning on just getting a one way ticket ultimately to SABA with a few stops in between in December. Do you have to provide proof of a roundtrip fare of the island to the officials in order to stay and study?

My understanding is that you just show them the immigration letter you received in your acceptance packet from Saba if they ask to see a round trip ticket.

Hey guys,
I bought a one-way for my first semester (as did many of us) and had no problem. Just tell them you're a student at Saba, keep your papers handy just in case. Once you have your temp residency paper they just waive you through ( and you can go through the resident line at the airport!)

No worries!! :D

You get a letter in your acceptance package that is addressed to the Immigration authorities (on Saba) that identifies you as a Saba student and suggests you don't need a ticket out.

Two things:

-We all have to go through St. Maarten and, at times, the Immigration there can get uptight. I have talked to AUC students who were required to buy a ticket off St. Maarten before they were allowed in. HINT: buy a one way ticket to Puerto Rico. It's less than $100 and will get you in the country.

- Once you get here, things are very relaxed. They rarely ask for you passport going into SXM from Saba and they usually wave you through at Saba when you tell them your name and you are a student.

Best of Luck!

Hey futureofamerica,
I'm buying my ticket off priceline.com. I'm going to leave January 1st because the ticket prices are about two hundred dollars cheaper. I'm flying U.S. Air straight to St. Marteens. (My one-way ticket is $530.)

hey classic,

thanx for the information. it seems like the longer u wait..expensive the tickets will get. I think nonstop ticket is a good idea to avoid the hassel of changing planes. u r also starting in Jan05?

Yep, I'm starting this January. I'm getting really excited, however I have to take four classes this fall before I can graduate. I'm not allergic to studying, school, or learning in general--- so it won't kill me !
