hey all im thinking of taking an independent study course for my second semester of inorganic chemistry. its like a class but with no lecture - u just study on ur own. so my questions are:

1. Will med school care that I took this independent study course? it says on the transcript about your exam dates and also will say it's a correspondence course

2. Does it look bad on the transcript at all or what? I need to know soon so if anyone has experience with distance education courses, lemme know please, thanks a bunch

In all the prereqs I have seen, science classes (biology, inorganic, organic, and physics) must have a lab to go along with them. If your independent study course has a lab, I don't think they can discredit it, but that's not to say they will look favorably upon it.

I had a similar problem with organic chemistry. I found one online with a lab and www.une.edu. But the schools I questioned about it said it was fine. So I think the best bet would be to ask the admissions counselor at the schools you are looking at.

I know its probably late in the game for my comments, but I hope this helps.
