do we need to have any kind of medical coverage before we arrive to the island, or this is done through the school? if yes, then how much is it?
or we need to purchase travel insurance?

on my invoice a few wks ago, i was charged $324 for health insurance, so i just figured it's something they base on your prior medical history

I was not charged for anything like that, only for school ( all the activity fees) and a Residence Hall, thats all

you will get charged for medical insurance unless you fill out the insurance waiver. you might not see it now, but its in your bill, call florida and they will give you your most recent statement.

I am a little confused about purchasing for health insurance :( What kind of Medical health insurance do most student at SMU have?Which is the cheapest? and covers the most? Do the loans cover for the health insurance too? Any information will greatly be appreciated :P

I think that the insurance is covered in our school statement. The $9000 is already covered the insurance. That's what I was told. Call this number and she will answer your questions: 800-678-3301

You guys didnt get the Health Insurance brochure? It came with the little handbook. And as AmericanIMG had said, unless you can prove that you have a current valid health insurance, then you have to pay that $300 some dollars for a semester.
