scroll down a bit and you will see a SMU vs Ross that should answer (hopefully) a lot of your questions.

After checking into both schools I had decided that it wouldn't really matter much. It was going to be up to me to determine my final outcome. Then after visiting Grand Cayman and touring the facilities. I even met with most of the faculty and was shown the labs and cadavers. There is absolutely no way I was going to spend more money and live on such a terrible island. Ross had a representative come and talk to us at my university. When someone asked about crime he didn't lie one bit. He told us that he lived in a certain part because he was scared to live in another area. Then he told us about a student that went missing for a number of days. It sounded really scary. The Gross income for Dominica is the Med school and Bananas...and that is it. Do not go to dominica if you could go to SMU.

you know what it is, everyone just thinks of the reputation of schools like sgu and ross, and i agree yes there is a chance that you will get better clinicals, but the residency, what does it depend on?
only your USMLE score
so if you screwed up on USMLE and you are an NYU medical student, the name of the school wont help you.
Its the same as college, although the reputation of the school will help, but the most important factor is that GPA, dont u think so?
so just enjoy the island, work your *** off, get good scores and you'll get your residency of your choice
