Hi:

Last week I went to RD to see Unibe. The university is in great shape. The size of the university is small, but have great facilities. The cafeteria and the gym are great. They have a computers lab with internet access computers. I have nothing to complain about Unibe. The country is another theme to talk about. The have a crisis with the electric energy sistem, in some places in RD they don't have electricity for periods over 12 hours. So if you are planning to study here, find a place with a electric backup. The cars in RD run with diesel because is less expensive, this cause a lot of pollution in the air. This are the main problems I found there, but the university is great. If you are looking for an apartment, uniplaza is a good place to live, very close to Unibe and very confortable. I have to go, but if anyone have doubts or something can contact me here. By the way, thanks Ivette, for everything.

Hi,

I'm currently in the 12th grade and want to persue into a medical career. I heard about UNIBE through those who graduated from that school, but I also heard bad things about the country as well. I was wondering if you could help me by explaining a little bit more about the education, how the surrounding area is like, etc. I want to make sure that I am flying to a school that is well worth it. Also, do they have any extra curricular activities, because I play basketball. Please respond, thank you.

Hi:

I begin my first semester in in Unibe this sep, so I really don't know much about the education, all I know is that a lot of doctors graduated from Unibe are working now in the states, so that must be good. About the surrounding areas, you will have to see for yourself, is difficult to understand. Santo Domingo is a city that in the same street can have a huge manor and next to it a very old and poor building, it's weird. If you come from the states this can be very shocking, but as I said, is a good college and the people that work there is very kind. I read a lot of people saying in this forum that you need a thick skin to live down there, when I saw the country I knew why...(read the other people posts, all the info you need is there) But we want to be doctors right? Also I think that have the chance to know another culture and another language (if you don't speak spanish) is a great opportunity for any person. About extra curricular activities, you are going to study medicine buddy, you are lucky if you have time to sleep well.

of all the foreign medical schools in the caribean Republica Dominicana is one of the best islands to go to.. ask anyone that lives there... the country has more to offer than anyother island in the region.

just visit it.. and some of the others...
