Quick question, since you seem to be the most informed member of this site regarding SGU.
Previously I asked what does ACGME stand for... I found out:
The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education is responsible for the Accreditation of post-MD medical training programs within the United States. Accreditation is accomplished through a peer review process and is based upon established standards and guidelines.
SGU's website says it has ACGME approved residencies in 41 states. Do you know what this means? I can't figure it out. The only thing I can think is that they have had students who have received ACGME residencies in 41 states. What do you think?
What if you attend a residency program that is not ACGME approved?
I hope you have some of these answers...
Thanks so much,

CuriousCatthere's something not right about that quote; if you can link me to the quote I can interpret it for you. People dont go to non-ACGME approved residencies. If your program loses approval, you pick up and head elsewhere.

I can't link you to it because it's on a cdrom I received in the mail from SGU. I'm going to reload the cd and double check and I will post in a few minutes afterwards.

Well, I checked it out and that is accurate. The CDROM is called "A virtual tour" and the quote I'm asking about is under a heading called The Excellence, followed by a link called "The Stats."
It reads "ACGME-approved residencies in 41 States."
It didn't make much sense to me either, that's why I brought it up on the forum. The only thing I could think was that SGU has had students attend residencies in those 41 states. What do you think?

all I can th ink of is that there are graduates in residency in 41 states. Which is odd; I would have thought its closer to 50 but of course we are "East coast" heavy so I can imagine may that's right after all. The ACGME approved just means its a real residency rather than, lets say, a vet's office. I should hope everyone residency is acgme approved!

Well, thanks for taking the time to ponder this one with me. It just scared me for a minute when I read that stat. I think you and I are probably right, though.
Thanks again,
Cat
