I took LIAT from Barbados to Vinnies and I brought 2x 70lbs. This was a flight that was booked from Air Jamaica from Houston to Vinnies.

anyone have an update on this topic? This is from last year, I was wondering what current prices/methods of getting to vinnie's was

for example, a lot of people go through R to get flights down to G'da, do most people ask her for flights to Vinnie's, or is that a 'on your own' kinda thing?

also, what are weight limitations?

What are common routes? JFk-Bdos-vinnies? JFK-SanJuan-Vinnies?

any help would be much appreciated

ok I came from boston but I bet JFK would be similar. I paid about 800 US to go from Boston to San Juan and then San Juan straight to vinnies. I was allowed 2 X70 lbs the whole way.

I know a lot of people that flew either to Barbados or San juan and then to here.

On another note a lot of people are taking trips home for the weekend and most of them are going through Grenada so I guess you can try both ways and see which is cheaper!!

I am going direct to San Juan on AA and then Caribbean Star/Sun has a new flight direct from SJU to St. Vincent. Since it's international, they'll honor the baggage allowance of the previous flight.

did you book it in two legs? like...go to AA.com and book that, and then caribbeanstar.com or whatever and book that other leg? or can you book both through something like travelocity or whatever?

I booked through expedia for both legs, though I am sure travelocity would work. I am not sure if you don't have a connecting ticket (i.e. you book direct with Caribbean Star) that they will honor the previous baggage allowance.

I recommend BWIA. I am from New York and I flew direct to Barbados and then took a puddle jumper to Vinnies. The ticket was about 750US and the airline LOVES to upgrade for free so alsways ask. You can have a total of a 140lbs because they check your baggage straight from New york all the way to Vinnies, so you do not have to reclaim and re-check you baggage in Barbados.

Although I am a big fan of Air Jamaica, I would not recommed flying them to Vinnies since you must fly into Grenada and stay the night until a flight to Vinnies leaves which is usually at about 700am.

What about the ppl who are going directly from Grenada to Vinnies? Is there any way we can fly with 2x 70lbs, or are we forced to 1- 50lbs?

your baggage will be limited to about 50lbs. Unless you pay extra per bag. If you are living off campus you do not need that much stuff since msot places provide everything from a can-opener to your towels so all you need is your clothes and some review books.

You do not have to trek so much food ot Vinnies either as the supermarket next to the hospital is 30x better than the one in Grenada. Its no Shoprite but its really really nice.

what grocery store you shoppin' at? the 2 in vinnie's are nice and I would say close to equivilent to the real value, 30x better? there are still things that i could get in GND that I just can't find in SVG(but the converse is true as well- there is a little gourmet store in calliqua that has great asian stuff that i couldn't find in gnd.
