Do each of SABA's clinical sites in the U.S. have:

-a residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)

or

-affiliated with a medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee for Medical Education (LCME)

I couldn't find the info on the SABA website, and so i assume this isn't the case (cuz if it was they'd prolly be flaunting it).

What happens if you don't have rotations in "approved" hospitals?? I understand some states will not give you a licence, but is that the case with the majority?

Any light that could be shed on this would be much appreciated. I apologize if this information is already posted on the forum, but i tried a search and couldn't find anything. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

peace

Hey Oakville boy,

I am a fifth semester student here on Saba, and I'll do my best to answer your questions based on what I have heard from Gardner and friends in their clinical years.

Saba's clinical rotations are in both residency- and medical school- affiliated hospitals, as well as in non-affiliated hospitals. Depending on your future state of licensure, you will be placed in the appropriate institution. The important thing for you to do is check out the requirements for IMGs in the state(s) you hope to be licensed some day. As you may know, the rules vary widely among different states. As long as you are hard-working, flexible, and willing to travel, Saba will provide you with the rotations you need to accomplish your goals.

I have known Saba students who have been able to complete nearly all their rotations in one metro area, as well as some who moved from Baltimore to KC to Chicago. (Keep in mind that many 4th year US students frequently move around for electives as well.)

I hope this sheds some light on the subject. Hopefully someone who is more versed in this subject will post more detailed information.

Best of luck to you,

There were some good posts on this subject on the old forum as well, so you may get some good info there.
