Hi
I recently watched a talk show talking about foreigners obtaining a MD in China.( especially Taiwanese or Taiwanese with a foreigner passport)

The guest, a Taiwanese, on the show had owned an University in China, so it seems that he's pretty farmiliar with the system/policy in China.

He said a lot of Taiwanese "donate" a certain amount of money in order to get admission to either medical school or Chinese medicine school.

but he said, China gov. won't give you the doc license and will not recognize the diploma you obtained after 5 years of schooling........ you can only return to your country to practice that is if your country ever recognize your degree......(Taiwan does not recognize China degree)..

so basically what he's saying is that ppl dumped a lot of money into china med school, but graduates aint able to practice anywhere....

IS there anyone here aware of this situation?? or Does anyone have any idea on the China education policy for foreigners??

plz advise

Thank you!!

Please check through the IMED, there are a lot of good medical schools in P R of China. They require entrance exams for entry and end with bachelor in medicine in 5 years including internship at last year. I am graduate of Shanghai Medical University, practising medicine in NEPAL now, no problem. There are a lot of doctors in US practising medicine form P R or CHINA. So what you heard is not true. Yes TAIWAN, INDIA do not accept chinese degree, it is not because of competency but due to political problems.

hope it clearifies you.

I think that md of china is not accepted everywhere in the world. But chinese medical students aren't just so so!especial as the develepment of the chinese society and economy!

Well, considering that the PRC considers the ROC as a rebel province, I'm not a bit surprised these types of things are going on. Of course, anyone who plunks down that kind of cash without checking into licensure options isn't too bright to begin with, IMO.

Hey, to answer your question in brief, many countries recognise the bachelor of medicine degree obtained from Chinese medical schools, provided they are listed in the WHO. For example, the US recognises CHinese medical graduates as long as they come from a school that is listed in the WHO, IMED etc.

Also, as far as I know, many Chinese medical schools are quite well known internationally, e.g. Beijing university, Fudan university. Graduates coming from those universities are very competent (I myself is going to attend Beijing university this coming August, studying medicine :D ).

The reason Taiwan does not recognise Chinese degree is politically based as many have suggested before(I'm a Taiwanese  ). Who knows what might come in 2008 if the governing party switches over. So you can never to too sure about these things, especially when politics is involved. LOL

Peace
