So I have read several others ask this question and I guess I just need to hear it again.. I am going to apply in the next few weeks to several Med Schools in the Carib, and would just like to know some sort of confirmation on whether you think I have a chance of getting accepted or not..

Cummulative GPA is 2.8; however, Science GPA is 3.3 (It took all of that 3.3 to bring the cummulative back up from failures..)

MCAT has not been taken yet, but will be in August..

So my questions are as follows:

1. What do you think I will need as far as an MCAT score to ensure admission?

2. Should I take some more uppergraduate science classes?

3. What is the most instrumental thing I could say or do in the interview to show them my passions for wanting to become a Dr.?

thanks

I am not going to speculate on what score you would need to "ensure" acceptance (because there really isn't any specific number), but you should shoot for something, at a minimum, in the mid to high 20's. That should help counteract your low cumulative GPA.

If you think you will do well in uppergraduate science classes, then, by all means, take some of them. Performing well in upper division science classes will demonstrate your ability to handle advanced science work. Also, you might be able to improve your cumulative GPA by taking those extra science classes and doing well in them.

As for your third question, you really need to answer that on your own. There is no magic thing that you can do and/or say that will impress upon the interviewer your passion for medicine. You need to be honest and sincere as to why you want to be a doctor. Surely, by now you have some inclination of why you want to pursue a career in medicine. Reflect on that inclination and come up with your own personal reason(s) for wanting to be a doctor.

Good luck!
